National Program for Inspection of Non-Federal Dams. Jewell Brook Dam Site Number 3, (VT 00016) (VT 00262) Connecticut River Basin, Ludlow, Vermont. Phase I Inspection Report.

Abstract

The dam is an earth embankment consisting of a main dam and a saddle dike. A dam failure analysis was performed for each of the two potential downstream damage areas. The dam is judged to be in fair condition due to the questionable durability of the grassed emergency spillway during flood flows. It is intermediate in size with a high hazard potential. The test flood will be equivalent to the PMF. There are various recommendations which should be undertaken by the owner. (Author)
