UPT (Undergraduate Pilot Training) Instructor Force Major Weapon System Representation.

Abstract

Undergraduate Pilot training (UPT) production rates nearly doubled from FY79 to FY84 bringing a corresponding demand for UPT instructor pilots. This paper examines the current major weapon system (MWS) portion of the UPT instructor pilot force. The need to redistribute MWS representation within the instructor force is discussed. A proportional MWS representation plan, based on the average UPT graduate distribution, is proposed. Limitations of the current manning method and rated management issues affecting implementation of the proposed plan are evaluated.
