VLSI Workshop and Project: February-November 1982.
Abstract
At regular intervals, the CSIRO VLSI Program coordinates the production of multiproject very large scale integrated circuit chips, in n-mos technology, using the Mead-Conway design method. The author attended the first Workshop conducted in support of this activity, and designed a successful digital circuit project which became part of the first such chip. This report describes the Workshop, the project, the circuit design, the performance estimation and measured performance. It also covers the difficulties encountered in transfering the computer software design tools, supplied by the Program in a form suitable for the VAX computer operating system, to the main-frame IBM 3033 system in use at DRCS. Keywords: Integrated circuits; Chips (electronics); Computer aided design; Manufacture. (Australia).
