SIMPLODE: An Imploding Gas Puff Plasma Model. I. Neon.

Abstract

A non-LTE dynamic pinch model - SIMPLODE - has been developed and applied to describing the implosion dynamics of a K-shell radiating gas puff. Numerical simulations have been carried out with neon gas puffs and compared with recent experimental results obtained on GAMBLE II. In addition, the influence of the Plasma Erosion Opening Switch on the K-shell yield is investigated. Keywords: SIMPLODE; Implosion; Neon; Gas Puff. (Author)
