An Analysis of the Effects of Varying Male and Female Force Levels.

Abstract

This report examines Air Force recruiting and utilization of active duty enlisted women in the context of Air Force requirements. There is also limited discussion on the utilization of women officers. The report describes the development of a requirements-based enlisted accession model which takes into account Air Force needs, constraints imposed by the youth market, and effects of varying male and female force levels. It also addresses key issues with respect to the general recruiting environment. One issue concerns the effects of labor force dynamics on military enlistment prospects with respect to the declining number of young men in the population. The second addresses the transferability of enlisted male Air Force applicants to the other Services. A summary of the Free Projection Model is included.
