Proceedings of the Air Force Conference on Technology in Training and Education (TITE) Held at Colorado Springs, CO on 15-19 April 1985.

Abstract

Although the field of Artificial Intelligence has the potential to greatly enhance the Air Force's readiness and ability to respond to threatening situations, too few people really know what it is, or what it can do for the Air Force. In addition, most educational programs in AI are oriented towards the PhD student and are very theoretical. At the Air Force Institute of Technology, we have developed an engineering oriented program in AI at the masters of science level. This program is one of the first AI masters degree programs available. In addition this represents one of the first programs to extract the engineering techniques from the field of Artificial Intelligence. In this report, the above program will be described along with our philosophy and approach to teaching AI. Partial contents: Computer Based Instruction; Faculty Development; Training Effectiveness; Simulation and Wargaming; Non-Computer Based Technologies; and Future Concepts and Technology Development.
