MAintenance Job Aids in the U.S. Navy: Present Status and Future Directions.
Abstract
The objective of this study is to define the factors affecting maintenance requirements and performance in the Navy, evaluate their impacts and interactions, and identify those key factors which the Navy's maintenance training technology research program should address to maximize payoff for research and development investments. The present report addresses the factors influencing the acceptance, utilization, and effectiveness of maintenance job aids based on a survey of technical manuals and electronic aids in current use or under development. Acquisition and support practices are described as they influence these factors. Future directions for improving the effectiveness of maintenance aids are identified.
