Relationships between Electronic Spectroscopy and Electrochemistry. A Probe of Reorganisation Energies.

Abstract

The electronic spectra and electrochemical potentials of the species Ru(bipy)x(NN)3-x(2+)(bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, NN = unsaturated diimine, x = 1,2) are correlated via fundamental relationships involving reorganisation and solvation energies. It is argued that the presence of two distinct Ru yields ligand charge transfer transitions allows comparison of the reorganisation energies therefore. Originator supplied keywords include: Ruthenium, Bipyridine, Reorganisation energy, Electrochemistry, UV/VIS Spectroscopy.
