Evaluation of the Effectiveness and Potential Application of the Interactive Videodisc Instructional Delivery System within the Training of SIGINT/EW (Signal Intelligence/Electronic Warfare) Systems Repairers, CMF33.

Abstract

All SIGINT/EW systems repairers (MOS 33S) are expected to maintain electronic equipment in varying degree of complexity from old vacuum tube receivers to state-of-the-art computers. A training simulator application was developed using the videodisc and microcomputer to simulate the operation of the RACAL 2174 receiver and simulate troubleshooting its circuitry. Light pen interaction testing on the circuit boards produce generated readings on also simulated test equipment. Keywords include: CBI, Computer Based Instruction, Interactive videodisc, Videodisc, Training Effectiveness, Training, and Micro-computer.
