Motivation a Necessary Personnel Management Tool in the Air Force.

Abstract

This report explores the factors which influence the attitudes of today's labor force--attitudes which equally affect individuals in the military. It will further provide a synopsis of present behavioral and motivational theories. Since actions and attitudes of senior managers substantially impact the action of subordinates, this report includes a survey of senior Air Force officers' (Air War College class of 1985) job attitudes. An analysis of the survey is presented. The report concludes with some observations and recommendations about the role of motivation in Air Force personnel management. (Author)
