Basic Skills Resource Center: A Descriptive Study of Learning Strategy Applications by English-as a-Second-Langage Students and Teachers in the Army

Abstract

A part of the Basic Skills Resource Center research component, the research effort described in this report was designed to analyze the range and type of learning strategies used by ESL (English as a Second Language) students and teachers in the Army and determine the potential for performing a training study of learning strategies in military ESL classrooms. Data collected through personal interviews with students, teachers, and program administrators; classroom observations; and student background questionnaires are synthesized and summarized.
