Guidebook for Analysis and Design Phases of Course Revision

Abstract

This guidebook is intended to provide the Army training developer with a job aid for revising a course of instruction. The guidebook is based upon the methods used to revise the Basic Noncommissioned Officer course for M1 tank commanders (19K BNCOC) and contains numerous examples from this course revision project. The procedures for developing instruction are organized around the following eight activities: (1) examine/revise course objective, (2) describe course entrants, (3) revise task inventory, (4) select tasks for training, (5) revise/develop training objectives, (6) organize training objectives, (7) develop tests, and (8) outline training program.
