Red Lake River Subbasin, Minnesota; Feasibility Study for Flood Control and Related Purposes.

Abstract

This study assessed water and related land resource problems in the Red Lake River subbasin. Investigation were made of areas subject to damage; alternative measures for protecting or reducing flood damages in these areas; accompanying engineering, economic, environmental, and social beneficial and adverse effects of each alternative; and related matters, including and intensive coordination program with the public and concerned agencies. These studies and related coordination efforts were made in sufficient detail to establish feasibility of the various alternatives. Consideration was not given to the specific problems and needs of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, due to the authorized levee project which will be reevaluated as a postauthorization study. Based on the investigations, recommendations are made regarding the need for further studies.
