Scan Line Difference Compression Algorithm Simulation Study.

Abstract

The purpose of this task was to investigate the efficiency and potential operational effectiveness of the Scan Line Difference Compression (SDLC) algorithm presented in Appendix A of the report. Delta Information Systems (DIS) performed a software simulation study of the SLDC algorithm. The software was run using selected CCITT binary standard images as input, and the results were compared with those of the MODREAD II compression algorithm run with the same input data. The MODREAD II algorithm was chosen for the comparison because it is the most effect compression technique currently available. Keywords include: Facsimile; Modread; and Compression Algorithm.
