Results of Item Parameter Estimation Using LOGIST 5 on Simulated Data.

Abstract

In order to evaluate our methods and approaches of estimating the operating characteristics of discrete item responses, it is necessary to try other comparable methods on similar sets of data. LOGIST 5 was taken up for this reason, and was tried upon the hypothetical test items, which follow the normal ogive model and were used frequently in testing our own methods and approaches. Two sets of simulated data we used based upon 500 and 2,000 hypothetical examines, respectively. It was found out that LOGIST 5 provides us with good parameter estimates under certain conditions, in preference to certain other conditions.
