On a Variational Approach to Some Parameter Estimation Problems.

Abstract

This document considers examples (1-D seismic, large flexible structures, bioturbation, nonlinear population dispersal) in which a variational setting can provide a convenient framework for convergence and stability arguments in parameter estimation problems.
