General Aviation Pilot and Aircraft Activity Survey.

Abstract

This report provides a summary and analysis of the data collected in the 1984 General Aviation Pilot and Aircraft Activity Survey. The survey was conducted at a random sample of general aviation airports across the nation throughout the months of July, August, September, and October, 1984 by the Federal Aviation Administration with the assistance of the Civil Air Patrol. The survey data provide information regarding the magnitude and characteristics of general aviation including: type and source of weather information services, trip length in time and distance, and pilot age and certification. Estimates are made of total 1984 general aviation operations, fuel consumption and aircraft miles flown.
