Light Divisions, A Selected Bibliography.

Abstract

The nature of warfare since World War II has been of mid and low intensity. When the Army recently reexamined its force structure it became apparent that an affordable program of conventional forces with improved strategic flexibility and continuing deterrent capabilities was needed. The Army Chief of Staff approved a plan that emphasizes light force modernization. This initiative includes the design of new light divisions. The purpose of this selected bibliography is to provide a list of readily available sources for researchers interested in the Army's most dramatic modernization program since World War II. The list does not pretend to be comprehensive, but reflects only those resources which may be found in the US Army War College Library. There are 92 bibliographic entries-no abstracts.
