The Axial Injection TEM Orbitron Maser.

Abstract

The linear theory of the TEM orbitron maser models the interaction of axially injected electrons orbiting the positively charged center conductor of a coaxial waveguide with the TEM waveguide mode. The theory treats electrons with arbitrary values of angular momentum. The threshold values of the cavity Q multiplied by the electron beam power required for self-oscillation in a finite length oscillator configuration is presented as well as the spacial growth rate calculated for an infinite length TEM orbitron amplifier. The basic design equations for the axial injection scheme are developed. Keywords: TEM orbitron amplifier; Linear theory; Axially injected electrons; Coaxial waveguide; Oscillator configuration; Axial injection scheme; and Waveguide modes.
