Results of the UCSB FEL Electron Beam Recirculation Experiment.

Abstract

Experiments demonstrating the generation and recirculation of a high-current low-emittance electron beam through the terminal of a Van Degraph type accelerator are described. Beam emittance approaching the theoretical limit for a thermionic cathode was achieved and a recirculation level of 96% was observed. Keywords: Free Electron Lasers.
