Abstract

A ground-water and soil contamination study has been performed at Griffiss AFB, Rome, New York. The field investigation was conducted from July through September 1984. Sites investigated included two fuel spill areas (Building 210 and Tank Farms 1 and 3), two battery acid disposal pits (Buildings 101 and 222) and Landfill 7. The work scope included 42 soil borings, monitor wells, the analysis of sludge/soil samples for metals and analyses of ground water samples for oil and grease, TOC, metals and volatile organic compounds. Limited environmental impact was observed from the Tank Farm and Landfill. (Author)
