Survivability Requirements and Equipment Criteria Method.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the results of a short-term study directed at developing a method to analyze Army Command and Control System (ACCS) equipment with respect to militarization requirements. The procedure developed during this study is called the Survivability Requirements and Equipment Criteria (SREC) method. The SREC Method is designed to provide decision makers a simple, transparent vehicle for determining militarization requirements for ACCS equipment items. These requirements are separated into the components of operational conditions, Threat environment, and the criticality of the function to be performed. These requirements are compared to equipment capability. The decision maker can determine from this comparison which elements of these requirements a particular piece of equipment meets, and make a judgment of whether to improve equipment (at a cost) or trade off requirements. Keywords: Procurement, Ruggedized equipment.
