The Analysis, Design and Performance of a 1.25 Inch Diameter Pneumatic Actuator.

Abstract

This report presents the detailed design and measured performance of a prototype, single axis vane actuator for potential application to small diameter hypervelocity missiles. The actuator produces over 100 inch-pounds of torque while operating on nitrogen at 1295 psi. The small signal bandwidth is approximately 40 Hz. The actuator operates 2 vanes on a common shaft for aerodynamic control in the pitch or yaw plane. (Author)
