A Western Economic Strategy Towards the East,

Abstract

This essay discusses the economy of the USSR together with its historical and geographical influences. The Soviet Union's present economic dilemma is how to effectively balance economic growth with its defense expenditures. Its overall economic problems are discussed including the influences of foreign trade and foreign technology. East-West trade is not only an important component of the Soviet economy, but also of foreign policy.
