On the Imaging of Reflectors in the Earth.

Abstract

This paper is based on a paper by Beylkin in which a leading order asymptotic theory for inversion of acoustic data is presented. The method is based on earlier work by Beylkin in the theory of pseudo-differential operators and generalized back projections or Radon transforms. The back projection or inversion is carried out with respect to a general C(x,y.z) background sound speed. The asymptotic
