Mirage A3-002 Strain Responses to Ground Calibration Loadings between 1978 and 1985.

Abstract

Prior to flight trials in 1978, a calibration of strain gauges fitted to Mirage A3-002 was carried out by measuring responses to ground loads applied at several locations on the Mirage wing. Since 1978, further ground calibrations have been made on the same aircraft. The loading procedure used was similar to that for earlier ground calibrations of other Mirage aircraft. This tech. memo. provides a record of the output of strain gauges fitted to A3-002, and identifies some trends in these outputs. For some gauges, data is given for a seven-year period. Two loading cases are presented: (a) loading at the main external store attachment point, and (b) loading at the Sidewinder attachment point. The discussion is restricted to strain gauges fitted to wings and to fuselage frame 26. In general, consistent results were obtained over the measurement period.
