The Utilization of Emerging Technologies in Physical Security Systems. Phase IV. Field Test System Demonstration.

Abstract

A three-node single-loop intrusion detection system was constructed and set up in a laboratory at GRC's McLean facility. A sensor field containing RACON, MILES, and SPIR sensors, as well as several geoplanes, was installed by WES at that facility, and the sensors were connected to the system so that test data could be collected and the performance of the system measured. The pattern classifier (Adaptive Learning Network or ALN) used in the system was originally trained on data collected at Eglin Air Force Base. With that ALN in the system, tests were run at GRC. During the testing, the system maintained a Pd of .974 and a Pna of .070 where large dogs, approximately human weight, were primarily used as nuisances.
