Underwater Facilities Inspections and Assessments at Naval Ordnance Facility, Sasebo, Japan.

Abstract

HARIO SHIMA AMMO WHARF (3054). The numbering system used for this inspection report is shown in the enclosed drawing. Every other bent was inspected, bent A,C,E, etc. Piles numbered 1,2,6,10, and 11 were inspected in these bents. In the first and last bents, A and R, all piles were checked. All piles were found to be in good condition, no spalling, exposed reinforcing, or mechanical damage, and there was only moderate marine growth on the submerged surfaces. The only damage found was five missing or broken fender piles and the lower whale between bents A and B is 75% deteriorated and between bents F and G the lower whale is missing.
