Physical Inventory Record Accuracy Indicator,

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a new, single measure of physical inventory record accuracy that DLA-O can use as a comparative tool. Separate indicators were required for DSCs, DLA depots, and non-DLA depots storing DLA materiel, since the current indicators have differing importance in each case, making it impossible to compare a DSC with the rest of this paper, when the new indicator is discussed, it will refer to each of three separate formulas: one for DSCs, one for DLA depots, and one for non-DLA depots. To accomplish the study purpose, the following specific objectives were adopted: Identify and analyze the measures currently used to indicate physical inventory record accuracy and determine how welll each reflects performance over the entire spectrum of possible states; and develop a new indicator to provide a relative measure of physical inventory record accuracy. It should relate the data elements now in use plus any other factors found to be significant.
