Abstract

The volume presents the rationale for the recommended standards, examination procedures and dispositions that were described in Volume 1 of this report. Second, it provides the most recent clinical thinking on a variety of disorders that are commonly encountered by the FAA, which will guide the FAA in its review of individual cases for special issuance of medical certificates, and for follow-up of those individuals who are given special issuance certificates. Disorders studied are the Endocrine System, Mental and Behavioral, Hematology/ Oncology, Visual system, Reproductive-Urinary System, Musculoskeletal System, Ear, Nose, Throat and Related Structures, Dermatology, Respiratory System, Cardiovascular System, and the Nervous System. Recommendations for Research are included.
