A Non-Standard Probabilistic Position-Fixing Model
Abstract
This is one of a series of algorithm analysis reports performed for the US Army Intelligence Center and School covering selected algorithms in existing or planned Intelligence and Electronic Warfare (IEW) systems. This report constructs a mathematical model of position fixing using one or two sensors for comparison with previously employed models. The impact of relaxation of certain assumptions in older models upon the derived confidence ellipses is examined, particularly with respect to the actual contained probability within the ellipses. Keywords: Radio direction finding; Normal and error distribution.
