A Study of Combat Attitudes of MAC (Military Airlift Command) Special Operations Personnel Compared to Air Force Personnel.

Abstract

The study compares special operations personnel with Air Force personnel to determine if there are significant differences in their combat attitudes. The LMDC Potential for Combat Effectiveness Model is used to assess combat attitudes. The study concludes that both groups, Air Force and special operations, perceive they would be effective if called upon to enter combat. Overall, MAC special operations personnel were more positive in their attitudes of Morale, Cohesion, and Combat Motivation. Special operations rated officers were less positive than Air Force rated officers concerning Leadership.
