Holy Loch Fleet Moorings Inspection Report.

Abstract

This report contains results of the inspection of selected Fleet Moorings and Navigation Buoys at the Naval Activity, Holy Loch, Scotland. Divers from UCT-1 and an engineer from the Ocean Engineering & Construction Project Office of CHESNAVFACENGCOM conducted the inspections from 17-25 June 1982. Results of the inspection indicate that a majority of the ground legs in the AFDB-7 mooring may be in need of overhaul, and that a number of legs should be repositioned in order to improve the catenary of the mooring chains. The condition of the two Sixth Class moorings and the two Navigation Buoys is satisfactory. Comments concerning the condition of specific components and any recommendations for remedial action are included. Keywords: Mooring buoys.
