Comparative Analysis of Combat Attitudes of Air Force Administrative Personnel.

Abstract

This study was designed to determine if there are significant differences between the combat attitudes of personnel in the Air Force Administrative Career Field and those of personnel in other career fields. Using the Organizational Assessment Package (OAP), Combat Attitude Survey (CAS), and a composite model called the Potential for Combat Effectiveness, the study concluded that there were significant differences for over half of the model's sub-components. Conclusions support the overall strength of the Administrative Career Field, particularly in the areas of Leadership and Organizational Climate, while identifying weak areas of Combat Training and Pride. Specific recommendations include continuing the recent innovations to improve the image of the career field, developing publicity programs to show direct operational support, and enhancing management of the officer corps.
