Combat Attitudes of USAFE Personnel,

Abstract

This research project provides insight into the mental aspects of combat effectiveness by examining USAFE personnel's combat attitudes. The perceptions of USAFE personnel were compared to those of other Air Force personnel in different major commands. Specific comparisons between officers and enlisted personnel in both groups were made to provide greater insight into the results. Additionally, within USAFE, rated officers' combat attitudes were compared to those of non-rated officers'. At the 95& confidence level, the results indicate that USAFE personnel have a less positive view of their overall potential for combat effectiveness than their counterparts in the rest of the Air Force. This report provides possible explanations for the results and makes recommendations that USAFE leaders can implement to improve the potential for combat effectiveness of the command. (Author)
