Mission-Based Analyses of Armor Training Requirements. Volume 2. Armor Operation Time Sequences

Abstract

A detailed analysis was conducted of armor operations to provide the basis for developing a set of platoon drills for combined individual and collective armor training. The analysis provided information on the stages of armor operations, the individual and collective tasks that are performed during each stage, training objectives for these tasks, leadership tasks that are performed during each stage, and the types of factors that affect armor operations during combat. An analysis of armor operations was conducted to identify, classify, and interrelate the activities performed during tank platoon missions. Volume II* of this report contains diagrams and flow charts illustrating the sequence of activities occurring during tank team and tank platoon operations. Keywords: Armor; Tanks; Armor training; Platoon operations; Armor missions; Tank platoons; Tank team; Platoon leader; Leadership; Armor operations; Platoon drills; Crew tasks; Platoon tasks; Collective training; Tank commander; and Mission analysis.
