Development of a Computer-Based Writing Assistant: REVISE.

Abstract

This paper describes the development of an efficient, easy-to-use computer-based writing assistant, called REVISE, that implements some of the plain English guidelines specified in SECNAVINST 5216.5C. It discusses the human-computer interface problems of some existing computer-based writing systems and how REVISE addresses these problems. A preliminary evaluation of REVISE is described, as are directions for future research and development on computer-based writing aids. (Author)
