Underwater Facilities Inspections and Assessments at Explosive Handling Wharf 1, Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific, Bangor, Washington.

Abstract

The major objective of the underwater facility assessments was to assess the general underwater structural condition of Explosive handling Wharf. Also, for use in the long range foster facility study, data was recorded describing potentially deleterious conditions affecting the structure such as marine biofouling, corrosion, deficiencies in coatings, grouting, and cathodic protection, etc. This data will enable comparisons to be made in subsequent periodic inspections so as to determine progressive deterioration with time. Explosive Handling Wharf EHW-1 was inspected in this survey. Critical conditions discovered during the survey were documented by photographs. In addition, photographs representative of marine growth on the concrete piles were secured.
