Advanced research at West German universities and research institutes in the general area of quantum optics was well represented at a large meeting in heidelberg, March 1986. This report focuses on describing results in the areas of gas lasers, integrated optics, nonlinear processes, and novel solid-state lasers - with emphasis on the last. (Author)
