Ceiling/Visibility Simulation Model: Analyst's Manual.

Abstract

A Ceiling/Visibility Simulation Model (WEASIM) is described to be a resident weather simulator within larger host simulation models. The weather generates synthetic observations of ceiling and visibility at multiple locations. WEASIM preserves the unconditional probabilities of occurrence of ceiling and visibility, as well as the temporal, spatial, and cross-variable correlations. The Ceiling/Visibility simulation Model is 'tuned' to a particular geographic area by inputing modelling coefficients and correlation parameters that were specifically determined from observed weather data from that area.
