Satellite Tracking and Observability.

Abstract

The purpose of this these is to study the availability of targets moving on or near the earth's surface when viewed by an orbiting satellite. A discussion of basic orbital mechanics is presented as well as a development of a suitable coordinate system. An analysis of non-linear observability is then provided. Lastly an observer is designed and sucessfully simulated. Keywords: Satellite; Satellite tracking; Observability; Observers; Non-linear observers; Tracking models; and Non-linear models.
