A Study of a Classical Leader: Sun Tzu and His Influence on Mao Tse-Tung

Abstract

This project explores the classical view of war as prescribed by Sun Tzu and analyzes his influence on Mao Tse-tung. Chapter One is a general introduction. Chapter Two describes the times in which Sun Tzu and Mao Tse-tung lived. Chapter Three summarizes Sun Tzu's military strategy as outlined in his classical treatise, The Art of War. It also describes his leadership characteristics. Chapter Four summarizes Mao Tse-tung's military strategy and leadership traits and compares them to Sun Tzu's 'Thirteen Principles.' Chapter Five provides a comparative summary of Sun Tzu's and Mao Tse-tung's leadership traits based on their roles as military commanders.
