Numerical Simulation of Tip Vortices of Wings in Subsonic and Transonic Flows,

Abstract

The formation and roll up process of the tip vortices of wings in subsonic and transonic flows is numerically simulates using a hybrid scheme of solving a zonal algorithm for thin layer Navier Stokes/Euler equations. The results are in good agreement with the available limited experimental data including the tip vortex strength. Keywords: Subsonic Flow; Transonic Flow; Tip Vortex; Vorticity; Navier Stokes; and Euler.
