Annotated Bibliography and State-of-the-Art Review of the Field of Team Training as it Relates to Military Teams

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to give a broad overview of the field of team training as it relates to military teams. It includes an annotated bibliography and state-of-the-art review of research bearing on team training which covers the time period from 1955 to 1980. Critical conceptual and methodological issues are discussed in the review and discussion is focused on team performance rather than human relations variables. Categories of the annotated bibliography are organized to support the review. These include theories and models of team behavior, variables affecting team performance, military team training studies, methodology for assessment of team products and processes, studies of the characteristics of effective and ineffective teams, and previous reviews of small group and team research.
