Renormalization of an Inverse Scattering Theory for Gaussian Dielectric Profiles.

Abstract

An inversion method is developed for reconstructing the average permittivity profiles of inhomogeneous dielectric slabs from reflection coefficient data. Renormalized solutions are obtained for an inverse scattering problem that are equivalent to the second order regular perturbation approximations. Solutions with increased radii of convergence are obtained. Numerical examples are demonstrated for simulated scattering data from average dielectric profiles that are Gaussian functions. Keywords: Inverse scattering; Renormalization; Dielectric layers; Gaussian distributions.
