Ground Response in Alluvial Basins Due to Seismic Disturbances.

Abstract

The second year's scientific accomplishments include studying three finite element models for SH waves or elastic (P and SV) waves with display of snapshots, and studying finite element source mechanism, and modifying the two-dimensional finite element computer codes for SH waves and elastic waves. Five different types of source, including concentrated coupled line source and non-directional line source for elastic waves, are considered. The 2-CST formulation and nodal-point-oriented technique have been introduced to the computer codes. Keywords: 2CST algorithm; Constant strain triangles; Synthetic seismograms; Seismic wave propagation; and Surface waves.
