Networks of Queues and Queues with Periodic Poisson Input.

Abstract

A variety of problems concerning networks of queues and queues with periodic Poisson input have been examined. Research on networks of queues focussed on distribution-free analysis and the derivation of sojourn-time distributions. The research on sojourn times and queues with periodic Poisson input was carried out under a sub contract with Ford Aerospace and Communications Cooperation. The research on distribution-free analysis of networks of queues concention-free analysis of networks of queues concentrated in three main areas: sample-path analysis, optimal design models, and optimal control models. In each of these areas, one of the primary goals was to develop models that go beyond the classical descriptive models of networks of queues based on exponential processing-time distributions and/or product-form equilibrium probabilities. Keywords: Optimization; Probability. (Author)
