C-130/C-141 Center Vertical Restraint

Abstract

This test program was conducted to evaluate airdrop of equipment from C-130 and C-141 aircraft with a center rail. The rail was designed to provide vertical and lateral restraint for A-22 cargo bags while in the cargo compartment. Nine tests each were conducted during this test program from both a C-130H and a C-141B. The c-130 flew at 130 knots and the C-141 flew at 150 knots indicated airspeed and both flew at 1000 feet AGL at test initiation. Container gross weights ranged from 625 to 2328 pounds.
