Ionization Phenomena About the Space Shuttle.

Abstract

The available information on observations of neutral and ionic species and plasma properties around Space Shuttle has been reviewed. Possible Shuttle environment electron/ion generation mechanisms have been evaluated. In particular, ion observations have been successfully interpreted within the framework of a kinetic analysis which incorporates Shuttle cloud/ambient interactions, flow, and electromagnetic effects.
