Biochemical and Medical Information for Marine Hazardous Substances. Volume 3. Marine Hazardous Chemical Worker.

Abstract

This document presents a set of biochemical and medical information for 179 toxic substances found in the marine environment. It is volume III of a three-volume report which describes a medical monitoring program for marine personnel who may be potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals during their work. The purpose is to provide to medical personnel a reference for certain biochemical and medical information which is not readily available from other sources. For each hazardous substance, a one-page data sheet is provided which covers threshold limit values, classification regarding carcinogenicity, route of entry or exposure, biological fate and metabolite resulting from exposure, recommended protective equipment, and other information.
